Commissions
A painting of your place.
The commissions I love most are portraits of places people carry with them: the lake house at first light, the garden a parent planted, the harbor where a proposal happened.
How it works
1 · The conversation. You tell me about the place and why it matters. Photos help, but the story helps more; it tells me what the painting needs to feel like, not just look like.
2 · The sketch. Within two weeks I send a small pencil-and-wash study for your reaction. We adjust until it is right, and the study is yours to keep either way.
3 · The painting. The finished watercolor takes three to five weeks depending on season and size. You will get one photo of it drying on the board. After that, the first full viewing should be the real thing.
Sizes and range
Most commissions are quarter-sheet (11 × 15 in) to full-sheet (22 × 30 in), and most fall between the price of a nice dinner out and a weekend away. I will quote precisely once I know the size and subject.
Ready when you are: tell me about your place.
